We have stayed at Garden of the Gods RV Resort many times in our 6 years of traveling and have always enjoyed our return visits. When the pandemic stay-at-home orders started in March, we were in Arizona, where we ended up staying for 5 weeks. But with desert temperatures skyrocketing towards the end of April, we knew it was time to find a safe and much cooler place to base ourselves for an extended period of time.
After making sure they were open and able to accommodate us, wWe are heading straight to Colorado Springs to complete Phase 2 of our Shelter-in-Place. We originally booked a 2 month stay but extended it by another 2 weeks. In total we stayed around 10 or 11 weeks. Lage des Garden of the Gods RV Resort
Colorado Springs is located about an hour south of Denver, Colorado. The main highway I-25 passes through it. Garden of the Gods RV Resort is located in western Colorado Springs near the Manitou Springs border. Roads in the area are passable. However, be careful on routes to Colorado, as some routes may involve long and steep elevation gains.
We love that this community has quick and easy access to nature and the outdoors, but is also within walking distance to shops and services.

attractions in the area
Our favorite attraction in the area is the camp's namesake and almost literally next door. The Garden of the Gods Park is a beautiful park full of amazing geological features. We loved walking and biking in the park, right from our campsite.Check out our blog post about the Garden of the Godswe wrote on our first visit here many years ago.
Also 5 minutes from Red Rock Canyon Open Space with even more great hiking and biking trails. The nearby town of Manitou Springs is an attractive little resort town with a lot of charm. A short drive in the other direction brings you to another cute little town in Colorado City.
Colorado Springs has many other tourist attractions. Drive to the 14,115-foot summit of Pikes Peak. Visit the only mountain zoo at the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo. Go underground to the famous Cave of Winds. Explore a bit of history at the majestic Broadmoor Hotel.
There are many other hiking and cycling trails, horse riding and mountain excursions right on your doorstep in this area. Colorado Springs is also home to the Air Force Academy. The Colorado Springs area is also home to many events and festivals. It's a big area full of attractions.

Convenient Amenities Not Garden of the Gods RV Resort
There are three changing rooms, two of which have laundry facilities. The main laundry room has large front-loading washers and huge dryers that can dry three loads at once. Washing machines are $2.50 to $3.50 per load, depending on configuration, but the dryer is cheap and powerful and matches the cost of on-site washing. Detergent machine and coin operated machine are located in the main laundry room.
Mail / WLAN / Cable
Cable TV and WiFi are available. We tend to always use our own cellular connection, so we didn't test WiFi or on-site cabling. Verizon had 4 LTE bars, AT&T was hit or miss but often had a few LTE bars. T-Mobile seemed stable with 2 LTE bars.

Sitios de RV e Garden of the Gods RV Resort
All RV sites are gravel or concrete and have picnic tables and concrete patios. Electricity is 30/50 amps and all sites have full hookups (water and sewer). Some sites also offer cable television.
Ride seats up to 65 feet are available. But most sites are back, and many don't accept large RVs (over 40 feet). There are around 170 VR sites in total, divided into 6 different types ranging from standard back-ins to executive pull-throughs.
About 31 are pull-throughs, the rest come back. Despite the number of large camps being only a small percentage, we would still consider this a reasonably "big rig friendly" RV resort. Mainly because the internal roads are relatively easy to navigate and many of the main sites are accessible.
Most sites are fairly level, but there are many that may require leveling blocks. We only saw a few trailers and fifth wheels that needed leveling blocks. But more RVs needed leveling blocks as they have less range to level.
Other accommodations available
Garden of the Gods RV Resort also offers a variety of other accommodations if you don't have an RV. Options range from primitive, unpowered camp (some available with power) to relatively new and beautiful getaway cabins.
There are nine very basic barracks that have electricity but no water. Barracks guests must use one of the campsite toilets for their water needs. Five Garden Studios is a big step up from apartment blocks. Garden Suites, Resort Cottages and Escape Cottages are even better. Some units can accommodate up to 6 people.

How to get to Garden of the Gods RV Resort?
Roads to the area are very easy to navigate. Colorado Springs is close to a major highway (I-25). and the Garden of the Gods RV Resort is just a few miles west of the interstate, which intersects state highways and a few blocks of back roads. There are no steep inclines or sharp turns in the immediate vicinity. But Colorado has a lot of steep climbs, depending on how you approach it, so do your research and plan your route.
The intersection where the entrance to the RV Resort is located is an unusual intersection where traffic stops well before the traffic light. This is actually a good thing as it makes the driveway very accessible for large trailers. Take a look at the aerial image below for more visual details.
If you have a large trailer, do not take the lane closest to the office building. We saw someone with a large motorhome damage their motorhome when trying to make a sharp turn after checking in. Please also note that the direct path from the ticket office is a dead end. We saw some people mistakenly driving down this road instead of turning left to their locations. So pay close attention to how you get to your site or risk having to go back in one direction or make some fancy moves to reverse.
BENEFITS
- Proximity to Garden of the Gods and area attractions
- Good sized park and friendly staff.
- Availability of other accommodation for people without a mobile home
- Proximity to shops and amenities.
- Good total connection, gravel fields and paved internal roads.
OPPOSITES
- Most of the RV park is on a gentle slope, so you may need leveling blocks. Most were able to level without them, but we saw several trailers with their wheels off the ground after the levelers lifted the vehicle.

With everything from tent sites, RV sites and very nice cabins, there is a wide price range. Discounts are available for longer stays. We stayed two months so we had a monthly rate. Some guests stay here all year round. Monthly and longer stays are also required to pay for metered electricity.
