Whether you're painting a powder room or the exterior of your house, paint coverage is fairly universal. The general rule of thumb is one gallon per 400 square feet.

As a rule of thumb, the average gallon of exterior paint covers 300-400 square feet of surface area. That means you will need 8-10 gallons to paint the exterior siding of a 2,500 sqft house (one coat). We always recommend applying at least two coats for any exterior color changes.

As a rough guide, it will cost around £2,000-£3,000 to paint a three-bedroom house. This will take a painter around 10 days to two weeks to complete, with the cost of paint included.

Consider buying paint in 5-gallon containers.
